The FEP Finance Club is a students’ society dedicated to enhancing the entry of students from the School of Economics and Management (FEP U. Porto) into the professional world. We are now in a recruitment phase, which is a crucial time for our Club. The application process is open to all FEP students.

Typically, you can apply for all of our Departments listed below, but you should have a precise idea of which role you would like to take. All applications are for membership positions. Management positions are assigned to highly committed FEP Finance Club members, who have at least one-year experience in the Club. Thus, before applying, please inform yourself about the different Departments and the Structure of the Club. The Club is divided into four main departments listed below.

Financial Markets

The Financial Markets Department consist of the Market Research, Portfolio Management and FX Trading sub-departments, which produce daily, weekly and monthly reports on the international financial markets. You must ensure that you have read and decided on a specific sub-department before your application. Each team requires different levels of technical skills and workloads. Corporate Finance

The Corporate Finance Department is looking for students who have or are about to gain experience in company valuation. This team is normally composed of students with previous or simultaneous valuation experience on Corporate Finance courses. The members produce Equity Research Reports, which can then be presented to a jury composed of FFC alumni, on the Equity Challenge. In addition, the department participates 0n the CFA Institute Research Challenge every year, having reached the second place on a national level last edition.

Career Development

The Career Development Department is aimed at improving the knowledge and skills of the students, increasing their chances of a future successful career through internal and external activities. The Department is also responsible for Recruitment and Selection, Finance Meetings or Workshops and for the Financial Literacy Project, together with our partner Fundação Dr. António Cupertino de Miranda. The project's goal is to improve the financial literacy of the young students through the sharing of basic financial concepts and ideas (more than 4000 young students involved last year). 


External Relations

In the External Relations Department, you can choose between a large number of projects. As such, you may be interested in working with our Marketing & Social Media team, taking care of the website and other social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or LinkedIn. Alternatively, you may prefer to work with companies and plan Finance MeetingsBusiness Trips (to London, Madrid, Lisbon and Oporto), Networking Events or find out Sponsorships for our activities. Or even the next FEP Trading Cup! Any of these projects require a regular commitment, strategy skills and willingness to work.

Recruitment Process

Stage 1 – Application || Deadline: 23rd of September, 9 p.m. | Fill out the Application Form until 9 p.m., you can find it on the previous link or our Facebook page. This is the first step to introduce yourself as a candidate to our recruitment process. Language: English

Stage 2 – Assessment Centre || 23rd to 27th of September | Assessment Centre has two stages: Individual Tests and Group Dynamics. In the first one, Individual Tests, you will be asked to take written tests. These tests, however, do not cover any knowledge in finance or the area of your desired Department. On Group Dynamics, the applicants will work in a team with other candidates to find solutions for different challenges while being observed by our team members. You will also answer an individual question in a Pitch format. The two methods show us your logical thinking as well as your social skills. Language: English/Portuguese depending of your preference

Stage 3 – Interviews || 30th to 3rd of October | This is the final stage, where you will have an interview with the Director of the Department that you applied for. Language: English/Portuguese depending of your preference

Stage 4 – Integration || 5th of October | After the interviews each candidate will be notified by phone if they did pass or not. If you were one of the selected applicants, you will be welcomed at the Integration Day at FEP. We will take new photos, team-building games will be played and you will assist some presentations.
