Financial Markets (FM)

If you like researching and you want to trade your knowledge for good market opportunities – we have a place for you in our Financial Markets Department!

Financial Markets provides a dynamic environment where you can develop analytical abilities, and gain valuable insights into global financial markets.

While working together, members can improve their understanding of asset selection, market research, and trading.

If you are committed to continuous learning, regardless of your current level of knowledge or experience, this is the ideal department for you.

Portfolio Management Conduct evaluations of hypothetical investors’ risk profiles, considering factors such as investment goals, time horizon, and risk tolerance. Build long-term focused portfolios and monitor market trends to identify opportunities for portfolio adjustments.

Market Research – You will analyse microeconomic and macroeconomic trends to gain a deeper understanding of their impact on markets and asset selection. You will also produce reports and articles.

Trading Apply day-trading and swing-trading strategies on trading simulators, profiting from short-lived price changes.

Secret Project – This year, the department will be launching an exciting new initiative that will transform the way we operate. Stay tuned for the official announcement!

External Relations (ER)

 If you like to negotiate and you want to deal with the biggest players in the   market – we have a place for you in our External Relations Department!

The External Relations department is responsible for the public image of the club, managing its relationships with the academic community and the professional world.

We oversee marketing and communication, managing platforms like Instagram and LinkedIn.

We work with industry experts to secure essential support for our events, establishing partnerships with finance-related companies for potential collaborations, workshops, or guest lectures.

This department is ideal for members who are either creative and innovative or strong communicators with a passion for pursuing our club’s goals.

  1. Marketing and Communication:
    • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the organisation’s events, initiatives, and achievements.
    • Create engaging content for various communication channels, including social media, newsletters, and the organisation’s website.
  1. Corporate Relations & Partnerships:
    • Identify and cultivate relationships with corporate partners and sponsors that align with the organisation’s goals and values.
    • Coordinate collaborative initiatives and events with partner organisations, fostering a sense of community and shared goals.

Corporate Finance (CF)

If you’re always wondering why a company is worth billions – we have a place for you in our Corporate Finance Department!

If you’re curious about why companies are valued in the billions or how mergers and acquisitions (M&A) shape industries, the Corporate Finance Department at FEP Finance Club is the perfect fit for you!

As a member of our team, you’ll dive deep into the world of corporate finance, gaining hands-on experience in financial and corporate earnings analysis and exploring the details of the latest M&A transactions. You’ll also conduct industry research and perform equity valuation, applying your classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios.

This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with professionals in the field, work alongside fellow team members to achieve departmental goals and enhance your financial analysis skills through ongoing learning opportunities, workshops, and training sessions.

Company Valuation: Members assess a company’s worth by analysing financial statements, market conditions, and other relevant factors. This involves using various valuation models, such as discounted cash flow (DCF) and comparable company analysis, to determine a fair market value for the business.

Industry Analysis: Members study specific industries to understand market trends, competitive landscapes, and economic factors that impact companies within those sectors. This analysis helps identify growth opportunities and potential risks for businesses operating in the industry.

Corporate Earnings Analysis: Members examine a company’s financial performance by analysing earnings reports, revenue streams, profit margins, and expenses. This analysis helps in understanding the company’s financial health and predicting future earnings potential.

M&A Transactions Analysis: Members evaluate mergers and acquisitions by analysing the strategic fit, financial implications, and potential synergies between companies involved in the transaction. This includes assessing the impact on shareholder value and understanding the broader market implications of the deal.

Career Development (CD)

If you desire to have a real impact on the community by projects related to finance – we have a place for you in our Career Development Department!

The Career Development department aims to improve the knowledge and skills of the club’s members, with internal activities and workshops. Through these initiatives, we create pathways for professional growth and self-assessment, ensuring our members are well-prepared for pursuing finance careers.

As a Career Development member, you will play an integral role in enhancing the knowledge and skills of our club’s members, fostering their professional growth, and contributing to our mission of preparing members for successful careers in finance.

 

  1. Training and Development:
    • Providing opportunities for skill development and career advancement, including the organisation of workshops throughout the year.
  1. Human Resources Tasks & Logistics
    • Organising events and initiatives to keep members engaged with the organisation, such as team-building events, integration dinners or weekends.
    • Responsible for event logistics.
    • Coordinating volunteer activities.
    • Maintaining members records and personnel files.
    • Managing the organisation’s Alumni network, such as updating and maintaining a database of contact information.
    • Assess the effectiveness of career development and financial literacy programmes through feedback collection, surveys, and performance metrics.

Financial Markets

The Financial Markets department is committed to nurturing both hard and soft skills among our members.

We provide a dynamic environment where you can enhance your financial expertise, develop analytical abilities, and gain valuable insights into global financial markets. While working together, members will collaborate to improve their understanding of asset selection, portfolio management, market research, and trading simulation.

The Portfolio Management team uses their analytical capabilities, together with internal training, to improve their understanding of asset selection and asset allocation techniques, by constructing a portfolio, which covers equities and other assets in different geographical locations and by trading simulation. 

The Market Research team applies its valuable research abilities to produce weekly reports on global markets.  For keeping up with the latest news, members have the possibility to participate in daily and weekly discussions on politics, economics and financial markets, as well as writing articles on Financial matters.

The Trading team adopts its analytical skills to focus on foreign exchange markets by engaging in weekly discussions, producing monthly reports on the EUR/USD pair and related relevant events or news; and making predictions of good market opportunities, applying them via trading simulation.

Career Development

The Career Development department aims to improve the knowledge and skills of the club’s members, with internal activities and workshops. Through these initiatives, we create pathways for professional growth and self-assessment, ensuring our members are well-prepared for pursuing finance careers. 

In addition, we are also responsible for the Recruitment Process and other human resources tasks.

Our team plays a crucial role as well in promoting financial education by collaborating with charitable organizations through Financial Literacy initiatives and education youth programs.

The department is responsible for the Recruitment Process, the Internal Evaluation and the Career Week, Our team plays an important role in the community by promoting financial education, through Financial Literacy Projects and educational youth programmes, working alongside charitable organisations.

Corporate Finance

The Corporate Finance department focuses on company valuation and how it can be assessed. Our team builds monthly Industry Reports allowing in depth focus on specific Industries and hosts the Equity Research Challenge at FEP, where members get to see their valuation skills graded by professionals.

External Relations

The External Relations department is responsible for the public image of the club and creating a happy and comfortable working environment for its members, the academic community and professional world. Our team deals with social media and runs the club’s social platforms. Our team communicates with industry experts in the organization of external events, workshops and competitions.  One of our key aspects being our local and international Business Trips, organised and hosted by FEP Finance Club, where students get the opportunity to visit business hubs and major Financial and Consulting Firms, gaining insights on the business world and opportunities to network.

A new edition to External Relations is the introduction of Media Media.  Market Media brings focus on channeling our members writing, journalism and story telling skills, with the aim of conveying interesting insights and updates on the market and media.
